Why an Abdominal Six Pack is
Good for Your Back
Back
pain is the bane of many people. It also accounts for a
huge amount of absenteeism from work, and is one of the most
difficult problems to solve. One of the reasons for this is that
the cause is often difficult to identify.
If you’ve tried everything for your back pain, from drugs to
chiropractors, even changing your bed, maybe it’s time to have a
closer look at your abs.
An abdominal six pack, or in fact, any
strengthening of the core muscles, helps support your spine, which
leads to less back pain – here’s how:
- Your spine is supported on all sides – by the
muscles surrounding it, by the obliques, which run along your
sides, and by your abdominals.
- If one of these muscles is less than fit, the remainder have to
work harder to provide the support your spine needs, which leads to
muscular pain. Most often, it will be the muscles in your back that
are under strain, which accounts for muscular back
pain!
- When you are overweight, as well as having weak
abdominal muscles, you are carrying extra weight. This
means that your back muscles, already working harder than normal,
have to work even harder to even out the imbalance.
- If you have an existing spinal problem, this
is further exacerbated because if those muscles can’t handle the
task, you may further injure or damage your spine.
- Poor abdominal tone can also lead to poor
posture, which affects the back. In fact, poor posture, whether
from weak abdominals or other causes, can even lead to tension
headaches.

Most people think of abdominal six packs as an
aesthetic issue – a washboard stomach to show off at the beach. In
fact, for this and a host of other reasons, finding the right abs
workout to help flatten abs, strengthen core muscles and reduce
belly fat can be beneficial to your health.
Of course, if you are already experiencing back
problems, whether as a result of poor abdominal tone, or
another, pre existing condition, it’s best to consult your doctor,
who can advise on an ab work out that will offer the desired
results, while avoiding further injury or strain to your back.
If back pain, poor posture or related problems are an issue for
you, and it is affecting your life, maybe it’s time you looked at
your abs, and started formulating a plan to get an abdominal six
pack, reduce the strain, and free yourself from
pain.
After all, pills and potions can only do so much, and they treat
the symptom, not the cause. Well toned six pack abdominals
will however go a long way to eliminating back pain, for
good.
